Author's ReviewThis gaming system is low cost compared to other gaming systems. The games are more affordable and offer a variety of options for all ages and experience. We have had several other gaming systems and this is the family favorite. My son is 10 and loves to spend time playing his playstation.
I like the variety of games offered as well as the ability to find games at reasonable prices, new and used. This gaming system plays playstation 1 games as well as playstation 2 games. This helps if you are upgrading from a playstion 1 so you can utilize older games in a newer system.
The Playstation 2 allows two controllers for normal play. A memory card is a must if game progress is to be saved. The system uses discs that can be easily scratched if not properly stored. I have not experienced any scratching by the game system itself. One of the cons is the discs are easily scratched and broken if not stored properly; such as in original cases.
This system also plays DVDs. We have used it to play DVDs with great success. We found the quality to be just as good if not better than our DVD player. You can buy a remote to use, but we just use our controllers when playing DVDs.
In my opinion this system is pretty tough. We have had ours 4 years and my children have been hard on it; dropping it, stepping on it (not jumping or standing for a long time), and knocking it over. The playstation 2 is still going strong with no problems. I like the system being slender; it takes up very little storage space. It is plug and play; simple to hook up to your TV. I have found it be easy to transport. We have taken ours several places with great success and had no problems.
I highly recommend this gaming system. This is a great gaming system for gamers of all ages and provides a variety of games for all levels of experience. The Playstation 2 is even appropriate for younger gamers with little to no experience. It is my opinion it would be a great beginning system.
