Sony's Playstation 2 has been out for a long, long time, almost 9 years. Sony recently cut the price of the console to $100, and the price of this bundle has dropped accordingly.

There's lots of reviews of the PS2 and the Singstar game, so here I'll just discuss what is unique to this bundle.

I bought this for my girlfriend, and I got this bundle specifically for 3 reasons: 1) it's white, 2) it comes with Singstar Pop, which is about ~$40 on its own but the bundle is only $20 more than the PS2 alone, and 3) it's a slightly older model than the current black or silver ones and works with software she wanted to run.

As a game system, it's a PS2, so it's got a vast game library. The unit itself is much smaller than I expected; it's slightly larger than 3 DVD cases. The system runs fairly quietly and only gets moderately warm in use. This version of the system has a separate power adapter (SCPH-79001 is the system version if anybody cares); the power adapter looks like a typical laptop AC adapter.

The bundle comes with the PS2, one controller, and the Singstar Pop game with two microphones. The controller is white to match the console, but the microphones are the normal black color. As an aside, the white controllers don't seem to be sold separately, so any additional controllers you get aren't going to match.

The Singstar game itself is pretty fun -- there's separate reviews on that, so I don't have too much to add. It has a nice selection of pop songs, ranging from Britney Spears to Alicia Keys to Gorillaz. This game is a great social game to play with friends; there's different modes for multiple players -- you can either take turns, form teams, sing duets, or just try to beat each other's scores.

In summary, this bundle comes with a very unique looking white PS2 and is a good value if you're planning to buy Singstar Pop anyway, saving you about $20. It's hard to come by though, as I don't think they're being produced anymore.
