The city is at risk, and only you can save it from the evil clutches of an old enemy: the powerful Electro. He has a mysterious new device that will make his million volts of destruction even more deadly. But, with Spider-Man on the job, Electro is in for the shock of his life. Sandman and other villains in a nefarious scheme to bring the city to its knees have joined Electro. The all-new costumes are not only fashionable, theyre functional. The Insulated Armor will make you impervious to electricity dont even try to fight without it. Create-A-Spider lets you equip Spidey with the right tools for the right job by mixing and matching suits and powers. And Spideys got a brand new bag of tricks, including Ice and Taser-Webbing.

A day in the life of your friendly nighborhood spiderman isen't very intresting.

|
Pros: gives you the day to day life of spiderman
Cons: being spiderman is more repetive then one would thing it is.
The Bottom Line:
Diden't I just stop the same car from being stolen 5 minutes ago.
I got Spiderman 2 when I found it on sale for cheap at my local video store. I liked the first one and I decided to try the 2nd one, it only set me back 10 dollars. Well after playing it, I found that it wasnt as good but Spiderman 2 has some charm to it.
Story.
The story of Spiderman 2 loosely (and I do mean loosely) follows the story of the blockbuster movie of the same name made in 2004. But Spideys battle with doc Oct are only a small portion has Spidey has to go after other villains including Mysterio, and the shocker. But the main point of the game seems to just follow the day and life of the friendly neighborhood Spiderman.
Graphics.
The graphics have been a bit improved since the original game and Spiderman and the characters come out just a bit more detailed but they still have some problems rendering faces and the PS2 jaggie problem does come out with some rather twisted looking generic people. Still with the world has large has Spiderman 2 it comes with very little load time or lags.
I also have to stop and complain about the camera, while outside where you spend 90% of your time web slinging the camera isnt a problem, the problems come when the battles go in door where most of the boss fights are. Then it gets caught up in corners of rooms and there are blind spots galore that the bosses will use to smack Spidey around some.
Sound.
A few music sounds from the first one that sounds Spidermanish but a lot of the time you just hear Spiderman talk about his life has he swings from building to building. Music plays whenever a mission is activated but a lot of time its just silence and sound effects. They got the 3 major actors from the movie to reprise there role in the game and Toby Mcguire does a good job of VA Spiderman.
Gameplay.
As mention before the game is more like a day in the life of your neighborhood Spiderman. Rather then being a linear level design like the last Spiderman game, Spiderman 2 gives you a large virtual Manhattan to explore. While web slinging above the streets youll hear praises and insults from people and occasional pleas for help. When a plea happens you can land and find the person who is shouting for help. They will give you a mission, help a man to the hospital, stop an armored car robbery, stop a theft of the car that sort of thing. Complete and you get hero points necessary for Spiderman upgrades. These upgrades can make him go faster when swinging or teach him new upgrades
Since there still is a story and chapters in the game each chapter gives you a list of things you have to accomplish places you have to go in order to full fill story requirements. Once there all fulfilled the next chapter begins with its key points to fulfill.
The bad thing about the game though is it gets really repeative. While theres plenty to do and explore the main building up Spidey points to finish chapter objectives gets tedious fast. There is only a handful of mission that passersby will give and you will do all of them in the first couple of chapters and then the rest is repeated from there. Towards the end of the game when someone tells you of an armored car robbery you will be saying not another one has you go through the same thing. Swing around the corner where said crime is taking place. Take out the criminals, a criminal gets away in a car with the money. Swing after the car and hop on it and punch till it stops. Beat up the two punks in the car. There are just not enough missions to keep you interested through out the game.
As for the combat system of the game it has been changed just a little bit to give Spiderman a few more moves. In combat whenever Spidermans Spider sense goes off hitting the circle button gives him the ability to dodge and counter attack. There is also a slow motion mode he can enter. L2 can cause him to do sprinting attacks that knock thugs up into the air and plenty of web tricks he can purchase from the store.
Final Recommendation.
Spiderman 2 has a huge city for Spiderman to explore and play Superhero in, unfortunately all the super heroing that goes on gets old really quick. But the game is cheap and it offers a few thrills that Spiderman fans might love so I will give it a yes recommendation but its just not has good as the Spiderman games before it.
