I was a fan of shooters but only know of Doom and like. When I first picked this up I became obsessed. This Ghost Recon game got me hooked on Xbox LIVE.

After using a mouse and keyboard combination for so long I was surprised at how well the game worked with a controller. Aiming is not as precise but works well. The game has a few different difficulty settings and Elite is just that. It is not easy and the enemy AI is DEADLY! I played through the maps many times while trying to keep all of the members on my squad alive through the missions.

This is a great port from the PC with better graphics and sound. Orange and red flashes accompany gunfire and explosions have a red hue. There are also blood spurts when a bullet hits you. If a grenade goes off too near you, your hearing will be impaired for a short time. All the maps have been ported from the PC version and they all are done to perfection!

Downloads are available for free on the LIVE service which include map and weapon packs. I have not encountered any freeze ups on the system, but there are glitches that some players will take advantage of online.

On the single player missions you control a six-man team. And although I try to keep them all alive you can swap between them if one or more dies. The command interface can be clumsy compared to the 'Tab" interface on a PC. Too bad Desert Siege was not included but the developer has done a GREAT job polishing up an old classic. It can be found as a platinum edition for around $15.
