Tony Hawk's American Wasteland is a video game that has been released on Playstation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360, Nintendo Gamecube, and PC. The game is also known by THAW or Tony Hawk Pro Skater 7, as it is the 7th Tony Hawk skateboarding video game to be produced.

The game was developed by Neversoft and released by Acitivision Games. This is the first Tony Hawk video game to ever support Xbox Live Online gaming community.

Tony Hawk American Wasteland is the next Tony Hawk videogame to come after the previous title, Tony Hawk Underground 2, also known as THUG 2. The game was released on October 18th 2005 for Playstation 2, Xbox and Nintendo Gamecube, and was released on November 22nd 2005 for Xbox 360, with the purpose of being released at the same time as the console.

The game features both a career or story mode and a classic mode, as seen in the previous Tony Hawk Games. The career mode features one large area, where players can skate around and complete missions, without having the worry about loading times in between different areas like in previous versions of Tony Hawk's games. The classic mode offers game play similar to previous versions, where there are goals to be completed in the game within the 2 minute time frame.

The story mode takes place in Los Angeles, which has been measured against Tony Hawk Underground 2's map of Boston and it shows that the newer Tony Hawk American Wasteland offers a larger game play field. This offers a much greater advantage to the previous editions of Tony Hawk Pro Skater video games, as you are allowed to explore a greater field of play, without the loading times or other disadvantages. In other words, you're getting more fun for your money, and with no downsides.

Overall, I think this is a very good game. I would say that this is one of my favorite Tony Hawk games of all time. I obviously also enjoy the original Tony Hawk Pro Skater game, but that is mainly because it has sentimental value to me, and is looked upon as a video game classic. If in terms of game play, this game has it all. I haven't been too impressed with the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games made after this, so I would highly recommend picking it up at a local game store. If you buy it used, you can get it for well under $20. I'd say for that price, and the excellent game play, you are sure to get your full entertainment value, and enjoy countless hours of fun with this game. Overall I would give this game a 5/5.
