Ubisoft’s TOM CLANCY’S GHOST RECON 2: SUMMIT STRIKE is an expansion pack for GHOST RECON 2 for the Xbox. The expansion contains a number of new campaigns, open levels, multiplayer options, and gameplay modes. The campaign mode of Summit Strike puts players in the role of a ghost commando in Kazakhstan. The squad is hunting for Pakistani terrorist Asad Rahil, who has unleashed chemical weapons on several villages. However, the hunt for Rahil won’t be easy, especially since the Kazakh president has just been assassinated, throwing the entire region into chaos. For most of the 11 missions, players will lead a four-person ghost squad across huge levels to accomplish a variety of objectives. Players can order their squad members to perform a number of different actions or act on their own. Relying on team members is a must as players destroy artillery, reinforce UN soldiers, and protect bunkers.

As good as GR2

Pros: Great follow up to GR2
Cons: that darn Red X
The Bottom Line:
Another hit by UBI and Red Storm
GRSS
Summit Strike is like GR2 with snow and wide-open terrains and was initially sold for just $29.99. You can find it for much less now and its worth it.
My favorite aspect is that THE BLOOD IS BACK!!! Like the original in the series, the developers have brought back blood to help you see that you hit an enemy with a satisfying spurt.
I am a big fan of Ghost Recon 2 and was very impressed with the AI in this game. The solo campaign is very tough to beat because enemies don't seem to follow set patterns and paths. They search for cover and flank you, which seems much more advanced since the last game. Friendly AI is also better this time around, but can still get in the way of your fire.
Multiplayer is again where this series is strongest. This game, as well as its sibling (GR2) has the plague that is the Red X. But it appears far less this time around. You can chose horizontal or vertical split screen options. Resolution is fantastic, even with four-way split screen.
Summit Strike feels more like a run and gun version of GR2 for some people but it is really very tactical. Communication between squad mates is key to winning online. There are wide open levels and smart AI both online and off.
A new co-op variation of the game is Helo hunt where you and your buds have to destroy waves of incoming choppers. Tons of fun. There is nothing like taking out a fully armed chopper with a stationary 50cal. while it attempts to unload a barrage of missiles at you.
But my favorite aspect of this series is and always will be siege. This is where one team defends a base and another attacks it. UBI upped the ante by giving us a blind siege download that randomly placed teams in one of five locations on each map... for a total of twenty combinations of attack and defense. This has vastly extended the life of this title.
