Ubisoft’s TOM CLANCY’S GHOST RECON 2: SUMMIT STRIKE is an expansion pack for GHOST RECON 2 for the Xbox. The expansion contains a number of new campaigns, open levels, multiplayer options, and gameplay modes. The campaign mode of Summit Strike puts players in the role of a ghost commando in Kazakhstan. The squad is hunting for Pakistani terrorist Asad Rahil, who has unleashed chemical weapons on several villages. However, the hunt for Rahil won’t be easy, especially since the Kazakh president has just been assassinated, throwing the entire region into chaos. For most of the 11 missions, players will lead a four-person ghost squad across huge levels to accomplish a variety of objectives. Players can order their squad members to perform a number of different actions or act on their own. Relying on team members is a must as players destroy artillery, reinforce UN soldiers, and protect bunkers.

Ghost Recon 2 may be one of the best first/third person shooters on the last generation Xbox. You play as Scott Mitchell and command the Ghosts through missions throughout Korea.
Everything about this title is just awesome. The solo campaign is tough and there is online Co-op as well as multiplayer action. These weapon models are some of the most realistic that I have seen in any game thanks to high polygon counts. Although the enemy AI can be overpowering, they will sometimes act like lemmings though and run to their death.
This is the first time we are able to command the GHOSTS in third person mode, which allows you to look around and over objects giving you a sense of peripheral vision. Unless the online room is locked to First Person only, an Over The Shoulder player will have a distinct advantage in the game. It has become a staple now although some FP diehard will disagree.
One negative is the absence of blood, which makes it hard to tell when you hit an enemy and makes the game seem less realistic. Another negative (AND IT’S A DOOZY) is the dreaded “Red X.” When the game encounters an error (and it happens far too often) the game will freeze and a red x appears on the screen. This is where you get up and restart the machine. Not cool, and it has not been fixed throughout all of the online updates.
The 5.1 channel sound is unbelievable. The gunfire and explosions shake the room when the subwoofer is turned on. I love the BOOMZ!
With addition maps and weapons available for free over Xbox LIVE, this is definitely another winner in the Ghost Recon series and will give hours upon hours of enjoyment.
