Pros: size, sound, looks
Cons: Little expensive
The Bottom Line:
I recommend this because of good sound, excellent construction, small size and beautiful styling.
Don't believe the marketing hype. This unit will not be as good as a component system costing far more. That said I am a musician and audiophile so I know good sound. The price isn't that bad when you consider that the original unit cost the same 15 years ago. Factor in inflation and it's a lot cheaper now. Other comparable units from Boston Acoustics, Cambridge Sound Works and others are in the same price range and sound about the same. The sound from this Radio/CD is just as good as any larger $500 unit with separate speakers except for stereo separation. The speakers are too close together for true stereo but the sound quality is excellent. The unit is very easy to set up and use. I didn't even refer to the manual at all. The lack of buttons is not a problem since I would probably only use the remote any way. Replacement remotes are only $10 so buying a second is a good idea in case this one breaks or you lose it. My advice is this, buy this unit for an excellent combo of sound and small size. Try different places in the room as the bass response varies greatly with location. Placed in a corner the unit has almost too much bass but has a much bigger sound. The unit plays quite loud with no distortion! If you're looking for great stereo separation this isn't it but for great sound in a small package and great styling this is as good as anything out there.
