Matter Fixed is the debut album from the talented musician Marlon Roudette one part of the UK's rhythmic multi-genre duo Mattafix. Included on the album is the smash hit single New Age a catchy song driven by an acoustic piano with elements of electronica breaking down into a breathe easy beat ridden chorus. Complementing the pop influenced single is the second track release Riding Home. Unlike the first single the track has a slight reggae beat quality to it mirroring the sound of Roudette's previous work. The song opens with atmospheric strings but soon kicks in with a shoulder bopping beat and synthy bass and is carried by melodic vocals throughout creating an enticing laid back vibe. If the first two tracks are anything to go by then this album will be a perfectly chilled addition to anyone's music collection and fans of Just Jack and Jack Peñate should definitely give this guy a listen. ... Read more
Starsailor's second album 'Silence is Easy' was a breath of fresh air within the indie genre upon its release in 2003. In contrast to the their début ('Love is Here') this release opened a new chapter for the maturing band and this is evident though the diverse song-writing captivating vocals and unique qualities on each song. 'Music Was Saved' is the sprightly and catchy opening track that paves the way for some fantastic songs such as 'Fidelity' 'Silence is Easy' and 'Shark Food'. One of the highlights of the album (if possible to choose) is the disco-friendly 'Four to the Floor' which is brimming with passion and urges the listener to sing-along. Fans of The Verve Snow Patrol and Supergrass will thoroughly enjoy 'Silence is Easy' and with so much to offer over eleven brilliant tracks be sure not to miss out. -J.M.

File Under: Easy Listening is the third and final album by Sugar the short-lived but brilliant trio featuring former Hüsker Dü singer/guitarist Bob Mould. Released in September 1994 FU:EL was hugely anticipated following the commercial and critical acclaim garnered by its two predecessors Copper Blue (1992) and Beaster (1993). Featuring the singles Gee Angel Your Favorite Thing and Believe What You're Saying it entered the UK album charts at No.7. The album has been lovingly remastered from the original tapes and is presented here in improved fidelity. Remastering engineer Jim Wilson comments: I'm really happy this deluxe edition is coming out because it really does highlight the songs in a new way. I think a lot of people are going to be surprised hearing it again. The remaster is light years different sounding. It sounds like the record has been remixed. Now it sounds to me how we heard it in the control room. Both Bob and I are really thrilled. This deluxe expanded edition contains all the non-album b-sides and a full length 1994 live concert. The DVD features all the promo videos from FU:EL alongside some rare TV appearances including Bob Mould performing an acoustic duet with Lou Barlow (Dinosaur Jr./Sebadoh) on MTV's 120 Minutes. The 32 page booklet contains rare photos memorabilia and exclusive new interviews that tell the story behind the album and the band's break-up in their own words.

SuperHeavy are an exciting new group consisting of legends from different genres of music. Mick Jagger (Rolling Stones) Joss Stone (International Pop sensation) A.R. Rahman (Indian film composer) Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) and Damian Marley (Reggae artist and son of Bob Marley) are the five members which as you can imagine bring a lot of individual flavours to this musical recipe. With the artists said to be looking for “a convergence of different musical styles” the self-titled debut album could may well be the start of something huge in the world of music. After recording twenty-nine songs in ten days the material was honed and refined and the final product was just twelve distinctive diverse tracks. The first single to be released off the album (“Miracle Worker”) received positive reviews and has critics and fans alike champing at the bit to hear more. This is undoubtedly an album for the masses. Regardless of what genre of music you get a kick out of this album combines Reggae with Pop Rock with Indian Alternative with Soul and much more. So don't miss out on this opportunity to indulge your senses with this experimental extravaganza. (John Minard)

Front man Max Cavalera fuels new album ‘Omen’ with the same blood fire and spirit that made him a genre icon with Sepultura Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy. Following the warpath left by 2008's critically acclaimed Conquer Omen is a sign of Soulfly becoming an even fiercer fierier and more furious metallic monster seven albums into their storied career. Various Soulfly traditions remain upheld over the course of the album's 11 tracks. Bobby Burns' bass rumbles and roars on teeth-gnashing opener Bloodbath and Beyond as Joe Nunez commences pure percussive pummelling. Marc Rizzo tears through throat-slitting leads while still making room to groove on the likes of Lethal Injection. Max's unmistakable vocals and riffs work in tandem for the ultimate aural assault. Soulfly's Silver-certified self-titled debut has become a genre classic since its 1998 release. Six records and countless sold out shows across the world have paved the path for Omen. For Max his latest Soulfly offering is the culmination of over a decade of growth. He explains We entered a heavier and more aggressive phase with Dark Ages and Conquer. Omen is really violent in terms of the lyrics and the music. I think this record brings fans closer to Soulfly than ever before. It's got every element that people loved from the last two albums. People that liked Conquer are going to love Omen because there are a couple more surprises. Some of those surprises come in the form of very special guest appearances. In the past Max has collaborated with everyone from Slipknot's Corey Taylor to Sean Lennon. He's opted for two more genre luminaries this time around. On Rise of the Fallen Max trades schizophrenic vocal tirades with Dillinger Escape Plan's Greg Puciato. Meanwhile for Lethal Injection Max enlisted the help of an old friend Prong's Tommy Victor. Max said Tommy did a killer job on the vocals. I've loved Prong since the early days.Max recorded with producer Logan Mader [Cavalera Conspiracy Gojira Devildriver] at Edge of the Earth Studios in Hollywood. He entered Edge of the Earth with ten riffs and emerged with an explosive metal masterpiece. They didn't waste any time commencing destruction either and the first track proves that. 'Bloodbath and Beyond' is almost like a hardcore song. From the first note you know it's on. There's no intro. The vocals guitars and everything hit you at once ” Max explains.A really special collaboration also happened with Max's sons. As B-Sides Soulfly re-recorded Sepultura classic Refuse/Resist with Zyon Cavalera and Exel's Your Life My Life with Igor Cavalera (his son not his brother!) It was cool to record the B-Sides with my kids. Zyon's heartbeat actually opens the original Sepultura record Chaos A.D. Now he got to record the song with me! We always have my family involved on the albums and this just takes it to the next level ” he said. All around Omen functions as portent for Soulfly's future by drawing upon their past. With Sepultura I only did six albums. Soulfly survived the times. It survived the crisis. We're going to the future with Omen. Metal is still alive and kicking. Because you get older it doesn't mean you need to get boring. The older I get the more psycho I get. The albums get heavier and more aggressive. That's the message of Omen. Music is all I know how to do. It's all I like to do. This album just reaffirms that I can keep rocking.Omen signals a new chapter for Soulfly and heavy metal.
