Newcastle United fans have seen their team come a long way since earning promotion back to the Premier League in 2010 and nobody could have predicted the exciting season that lay ahead at the start of the 2011/12 campaign. This was a season of rejuvenation as changes were made both on and off the pitch with fresh talent drafted in in the form of Cisse Cabaye Ba and Obertan to name a few and manager Alan Pardew delivering a brand of attacking football that earned him both the Barclays and LMA Manager of the Season awards. With the new signings settling in well and with a good core of players already at the club Newcastle United undertook an incredible journey that saw them return to the upper echelons of the Premier League and secure a place in Europe the following season only narrowly missing out on a Champions League place. There was plenty to cheer this season as stalwarts of the team Fabricio Coloccini Cheick Tiote and Jonas Gutierrez all solidified their reputations at the heart of the club and Tim Krul and Hatem Ben Arfa both delivered impressive displays. Relive this exhilarating season in full with highlights of every game and every goal from the campaign including victories over Sunderland Liverpool Chelsea and a dominating demolition of 2010/11 champions Manchester United.

Free radical damage is considered to be responsible for the aging process and the underlying weakness linking all serious illness. An antioxidant is any substance which opposes free radical activity and therefore enhances longevity. Regrettably, we believe that everyone is deficient in antioxidants (even people on good diets are deficient, and those on poor diets are dreadfully and dangerously deficient). If you don’t believe this, just order the Free Radical Test Kit which costs about £15 from our friends at The Rainham Health Food Centre - Telephone 01634 861880 - and see for yourself. (Please mention you were referred by The Finchley Clinic). This ubiquitous deficiency explains why I believe everyone, without exception, should take an antioxidant product critical for the immune system, preventing free radical damage, and slowing the aging process, indefinitely. I have been taking this product and Oxygen Elements Plus (which also has antioxidant properties, due to the prescence of hydrogen ions, even though it oxygenates the body) continuously for some years for general health and virtually never get colds any more, even though I am not as disciplined as I should be in my diet and lifestyle. I felt it was a pity taking something for so long which I regarded as so critical to general health that I wasn’t making available to customers via the web shop (though I have been selling it to patients for a long time). Well now I have remedied that, and here is the product I use. Of all the products we sell, this is one of the hardest to summarise in a few sentences. The reason is because there are entire books written on the benefits of most of the individual ingredients by themselves and they are all far more than just antioxidants. Nonetheless here are some key points: Selenium forms part of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase, is an antioxidant that protects the body by defending the damaging effects of free radicals and reduces the harmful oxidation of fats in the blood, and in doing so may help to maintain a healthy heart and circulation. It is also part of the enzyme iodothyronine deiodinase, which converts the thyroid hormone T4to its active form T3. A sluggish thyroid will ensure that all body systems function at a low ebb (see page on Kelp Formula for more information about this). Professor Harry Foster claims in his book "What Really Causes AIDS?" that glutathione peroxidase is the primary cause of the progression of HIV to full blown AIDS, and that this can be prevented and even reversed with selenium supplementation. Please note that this is Professor's Foster's representation, and we are not able to verify it or claim that selenium supplmentation helps treat HIV or AIDS. Zinc supplementation can lead to increased energy, less colds and infections, better memory, less PMT, prevention of hair loss, improved nail growth, increased libido, acne and other skin problems fading, and prostate problems receding. This is a mere handful of its many advantages. Vitamin C deficiency has been associated with symptoms as diverse as premature signs of aging, anxiety, stress, high blood fats, fatigue, heart failure, high blood pressure, thrombosis, arthritis, susceptibility to colds and infections, PMT and depression. It is also anti viral. Severe deficiency leads to multiple haemorrages, joint disintegration, looseing of teeth, muscle pain, and eventually death. It is also associated with collagen formation and iron absorption. Co-enzyme Q-10 has helped conditions from gum disease to heart problems, gives more energy and increases athletic performance. Vitamin E contributes to a healthy circulatory system, aids in proper blood clotting and improves wound healing. Some studies have shown that vitamin E decreases symptoms of premenstrual syndrome. Vitamin E supplements have been shown to lower rate of coronary heart disease by 30 - 40%. Vitamin A presented to the body as Beta Carotene has been the subject of numero

In a season in which Newcastle United went head to head with Manchester United for the Premier League crown the timing could not have been better for Kevin Keegan’s team to turn on the style and deliver a five goal thrashing to their league rivals in what is remembered as an unforgettable classic in St James’ Park history. Defending intelligently and attacking stylishly Newcastle United lived up to their billing as ‘The Entertainers’ that afternoon as the likes of David Ginola Les Ferdinand and Alan Shearer combined to send the Magpies back to the top of the table. The first goal of the afternoon came as Shearer knocked the ball on for centre-half Darren Peacock whose downward header found its way through the defence to cross the line – just. If the visitors had any doubts over the first goal there was no disputing the second as Ginola in inspirational form that day connected with the ball to net one of the strikes of the season. The third followed after the break as Shearer battled past the defence sending in a cross to find the head of Ferdinand to put another past Peter Schmeichel. Shearer was again amid the action for the fourth goal of the afternoon after a Beardsley shot was blocked only to land at the feet of the Newcastle number 9 and in a display of pure brilliance the final goal came in thrilling fashion. Philippe Albert glided past the visitors and finished the move with a sublime left-footed chip over the Danish goalkeeper from 25 yards to send the Toon Army into raptures and knock their opponents off the top spot in the league.

As United lined up for the final FA Cup showdown of the decade there were records to be broken. Not only chasing their 4th FA Cup win of the decade and a record 10th overall they were also on the verge of clinching an unbelievable 3rd double of the 1990's as well as vying for the unprecedented treble with the European Cup Final just days away.Facing Newcastle who had lost out at Wembley the previous season The Magpies were desperate to add silverware after years of trying but United had other ideas and after the drama of the semi-final clash at Villa Park against arch-rivals Arsenal they proved just too good on the day despite losing Roy Keane through injury after only 9 minutes. It was a tactical master-stroke from Alex Ferguson that led to United's opener. Bringing on Teddy Sherringham to replace Keane Solskjaer moved onto the right of midfield and Beckham switched to a central role with Sherringham now partnered with Scholes in attack and within 100 seconds of stepping onto the field it was the substitute who orchestrated a move that he finished himself by firing through the legs of Harper.United looked in control and after a brief Newcastle revival at the start of the second half it was United who struck again. This time it was Sherringham who was the provider as he laid the ball into the path of Scholes who made no mistake in firing home from the edge of the box.Looking to wrap it up United swarmed forward and could quite possibly have had 3 or 4 more with Sherringham going closest with a chip that agonizingly hit the bar. But 2-0 it remained and part 2 of 3 was complete. Next stop was Barcelona but first enjoy this one over again as United created footballing history.
