The Gardena Soil Moisture Sensor has been developed to allow the moisture of the soil to affect whether your plants receive water or not. This makes watering even more efficient as by connecting this moisture sensor to the water timer or computer which is operating your irrigation system it enables the moisture sensor to override any preset program if the soil is already damp - so preventing over watering or you wasting water. This makes it an extremely reliable way of controlling the water your plants receive when you're away on holiday. How it Works! In the centre of the control panel is the Switching Controller which lets you set the moisture level at which you want watering to take place. When you receive the sensor this controller is set to the centre position which is suitable for most soil types. If you have sandy soil the controller should be turned more to the right (damper). For potting soil the controller should be turned more to the left (dryer) The sensor measures the soil moisture at the root level of your plants.
