Tasting Notes by Dr Whisky Honey and lemon, green grapes, skin cream/lotion. Very fresh on the nose. The peat is in there, but it is all so perfumed, estery, and free of the associations that often appear with peat smoke that it could go unnoticed. Apple crumble, margarine, and a touch of animal hide. Okay, well the smoke will not go unnoticed on the palate, but it is so clean, and surrounded by floral sweetness, that to compare it to a Scottish whisky would not quite be fair (to either). Peated barley at the heart of the flavours, grassy, and increasingly drying. Oak and almonds.

King's Ginger was specifically formulated by Berry Brothers in 1903 for King Edward VII.This high strength liqueur has been created by the careful maceration of ginger root for 1 month, enlivened by the judicious addition of citrus in the form of lemon oil, and finished off with a touch of Glenrothes '88.Rich and zesty, the liqueur was created to stimulate and revivify His Majesty during morning rides in his new horseless carriage - a Daimler. It has been appreciated by bon viveurs, sporting gentlemen and high-spirited ladies ever since. Try it long and refreshing with ginger ale, mint, lemon and cucumber perfect for a sunny afternoon. Or just add a large dash to your champagne for a delightfully alternative Ginger Royale.

Sweetness: 1/10Peatiness: 9/10Availability: 3/10Colour: Very pale straw with lemony-yellow highlights.Nose: Full & pungent with an earthy smokiness & fresh hints of ozone.Flavour : Dry, smoky & fresh, clean & big-bodied.Finish : Long & smooth with a smoky-burnt oakiness & a very slight edge of richness.Finlaggan is very much the SECRET Islay, as the name of the distillery from which it comes is a closely guarded secret and known to only a select few.Only those who have sampled Islay malts over a long period and who are familiar with the subtle differences of nose and taste, could begin to guess at the pedigree of this true son of Islay. The Island of Islay lies in the stormy waters of the Atlantic Ocean just off the West coast of Scotland. Many centuries ago,the Lord of the Isles ruled Scotland from the stronghold of Finlaggan Castle on Islay, but today it is malt whisky that legends are made of.There are eight malt distilleries on Islay, all are excellent but with many different flavours.

The spirits are distilled on a handmade 300L copper-pot still, the first to launch in London for 190 years. The master distller, Jared Brown, crafts each product by hand, in genuinely small batches - never more than 500 bottles a time, often considerably less. This delivers stunning spirits that are smooth, full of charater and have true intensity of flavour.Sipsmith's London Dry Gin is distilled from the finest English Barley spirit with 10 carefully selected botanicals, and blended with the exceptionally pure water of Lydwell spring, one of the sources of the River Thames. The result is an interpretation of the classic London Dry style that nods to its heritage and emerges as a particularly dry gin with a wonderful burst of juniper and a zesty, citrus freshness.Nose: Floral, summer meadow notes, followed by mellow rounded juniper and zesty, citrus freshness.Palate: Gentle mouthfeel, with initial dry juniper joined by growing sweetness, showing lemon tart & orange marmalade, garnished by a wave of fresh lemon zest, followed by bolder juniper & light dryness, before all the flavours harmonise into one integrated taste.Finish: Dryness leads, with spicy juniper & a hint of lemon tart emerging.

Deep mahogany colour with reddish tinges. Beautifully complex nose of bitter orange, nutmeg, cinnamon and sweet raisin. On the palate a rich sweet mouth feel with exotic spice - nutmeg, vanilla, clove and balanced by a crisp citrus orange peel character. A hedonistic but complex spice rum.Chairman's Reserve Spiced Rum is the latest addition to St. Lucia Distiller's portfolio of world class rums. The rum contains local spices and fruits including cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, coconut, all spice, lemon and orange. We have also added Richeria Grandis - known locally as 'Bois Bande' - a bark renowned in the Caribbean as a potent aphrodisiac to give an added kick to the rum. These spices and fruits are added to rums distilled in copper alembic pot and continuous stills that are then aged in Kentucky Bourbon barrels to give a complex and balanced spice rum. Chairman's Reserve Spice benefits from a combination of steeping certain spices and Bois Bande in the rum for up to a year while the other ingredients are added during the blending process. In this way they can bring out the flavour of the spices and fruits while preserving the complexity and harmony of the underlying rum.Chairman's Reserve Spiced Rum is best enjoyed with cranberry juice or ginger beer on ice with a grating of fresh nutmeg.
