Canadian Club whisky was first produced in a world where the spittoon was considered quite sophisticated.Life was harsh in the mid 1800's in North America and the whiskey was harsher. Hiram Walker (distiller), set out to create a different whiskey that offered a smoother, cleaner taste.Even in those days, Canadian Whiskey was beginning to create a new flavour, combining the richness and fruitiness of bourbon for a cleaner, crisper palate.Canadian Club, with it's unique distilling process was a cut above the rest. Lighter than Scotch and smoother than bourbon, this was no ordinary whiskey.Still made and bottled in Walkerville Canada, Canadian Club is the only Canadian whiskey that is 'barrel-blended' prior to aging in white oak barrels to allow the flavours to marry. Aged six years (twice the period of required by Canadian law), Canadian Club is a true, quality Canadian whisky that has not changed with time.A versatile drink, enjoy Canadian Club straight, on the rocks or in a variety of mixed drinks.Canadian Club has been the world's favourite Canadian whiskey for more than 140 years and has set the standard for great whiskey. It's a smooth satisfying taste that will never go out of style.

Black Bush Special Irish Whiskey is a rich, dark, 80-proof
... Read more
Black Bush Special Irish Whiskey is a rich, dark, 80-proof blend from the world's oldest licensed distillery, "Old Bushmills" distillery in County Antrim, Ireland. It is comprised almost entirely of single malt whiskey, making it a choice selection of deluxe whiskey aficionados.Malt whiskey that becomes Black Bush is aged up to eleven years in selection sherry-seasoned oak casks before being blended with a small portion of a special single grain whiskey to enhance the independant, non-conformist character of the malt. The malt used in the mash derives its clean taste from the deliberate absence of peat used in the malted barley drying process. All of the Irish whiskey distilleries kiln-dry their malt in a heat-fired, not peat-fired, oven. This drying process lets the clean, clear taste of the malt and barley shine through. The combination is then returned to the cask for "marrying." As the whiskeys mellow together, the uniquely rounded bouquet, rich amber hue and distinctive taste of Black Bush is born. Black Bush has a distintive, full bodied aroma with spicy, malty and nutty sweet sherry notes. It is complex and well flavoured, slightly sweet with clear malt notes that are not masked by smoke. It is a whiskey to be enjoyed straight or on the rocks.

Tasting Notes by Dr Whisky Honey and lemon, green grapes, skin cream/lotion. Very fresh on the nose. The peat is in there, but it is all so perfumed, estery, and free of the associations that often appear with peat smoke that it could go unnoticed. Apple crumble, margarine, and a touch of animal hide. Okay, well the smoke will not go unnoticed on the palate, but it is so clean, and surrounded by floral sweetness, that to compare it to a Scottish whisky would not quite be fair (to either). Peated barley at the heart of the flavours, grassy, and increasingly drying. Oak and almonds.

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Tennessee Whiskey, the world's first charcoal mellowed whiskey to be bottled by the barrel was first introduced in February 1997. It allows whiskey aficionados to sample the work of individual barrels, comparing the subtle difference imbued by the new American white oak barrels and the intense maturation process. Each barrel of whiskey is sampled as it comes of age by their current master distiller (and his tasting panel), they then set a few aside. These barrels are the ones with the smoothest taste and the most intense flavour of varying degrees of toasted oak, caramel and vanilla. The few destined for something special - to be sold, one barrel at a time to our most discriminating customers.Jack Daniel's Single Barrel is always found in the upper most parts of the barrelhouse - they like to call this the 'Penthouse'. Because every barrel is different and in various locations in the barrelhouses no two barrels are the same. Each decanter style bottle of Jack Daniel's Single Barrel proudly carries details of the rick number, barrel number and bottling date, communicating that each bottle is completely unique.

The archetypal JD.This rare, sippin' whiskey is made at the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, using pure cave spring water and a unique mellowing process perfected by Jack Daniel in 1866.The distinctively pleasing flavour is the reason they'll always stay faithful to the slow, time-honoured methods their founder insisted upon.Tennessee whiskey is similar to bourbon but is different in that it is filtered through maple charcoal in large wooden vats prior to aging. Tennessee whiskey is also not subject to the regulations relating to bourbons, such as the use of new barrels and low level of distilling proof.

Hand-bottled in limited quantity for a superior taste and smoothness.Deep in Kentucky, tiny Knob Creek spills and riffles down through the hills. Like the bourbon bearing its name, there's not much of Knob Creek but what there is rewards your finding it. Named after Abraham Lincoln's boyhood home in Kentucky, Knob Creek is truly bourbon at its finest. Created to represent whiskey before it was mass produced, Knob Creek embodies the look, feel and taste of pre-prohibition bourbon. This full-bodied, flavourful bourbon takes classic cocktails to a new level. Knob Creek Bourbon, bottled at an honest 100 proof (50% abv) like all good bourbons were a century ago, is aged nine years in charred American white oak which lends this bourbon its maple sugar aroma, distinctive sweetness and rich, full-bodied flavour, giving it the distinction of being aged the longest of the small-batch bourbons. This extra aging allows it to absorb more of the sugar in the wood, giving it a slightly sweeter taste and nose.

Wild Turkey 8 Year-Old has an exceptionally soft, but rich aroma for a high proof bourbon, due to quality at all stages of making and aging for 8 years. It's taste is powerful and rich with caramel, vanilla and notes of honey and brown sugar. The finish is very long, rich and full-bodied, powerful, yet soothing.A brand that stands for American heritage and pride, Wild Turkey is the world's top-selling premium Bourbon. As it's advertising states: 'Not the latest thing, the genuine thing'. Available in seven varieties, all Wild Turkey products are created under exacting conditions watched over by Master Distiller Jimmy Russell in the historic distillery at Wild Turkey Hill in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.Russell oversees a process employing the highest quality corn, barley and rye, combined with pure limestone water to form a unique whiskey of full-bodied taste and distinctly Kentuckian character. Wild Turkey is distilled and put into new barrels at a much lower proof than most Bourbons. A costly method that results in less of the flavour being cooked out. The barrels used are made of the finest new oak with the heaviest char available, imparting a smoother flavour and a deep amber colour.

Monkey Shoulder uses only malt Scotch whisky from three of Speyside's finest distilleries. This triple malt is catching the attention of the country's leading bartenders for its smooth and rich qualities, making it ideal for mixing as well as drinking in the more traditional way. As Charlotte Voisey, of London's Apartment 195 explains, 'the atractive name and bottle spark curiosity, and once explained, bring a smile to your face.'Rooted in malt whisky lore, Monkey Shoulder is inspired by and named in honour of the malt men at William Grant, who are among the few still to turn the malting barley by hand using a sheil (wooden shovel). Monkey Shoulder was a nickname given to a temporary injury some malt men occasionaly suffered many years ago as a result of repeatedly bending over whilst turning the malt. Thankfully, working practices have now changed and the condition no longer exists.Crafted in small batches of just 27 casks, Monkey Shoulder's smooth and and rounded taste has accents of malty sweetness, vanilla, marmalade and barley sugar. The iconic bottle design, complete with three brass monkeys - each representing one of the constituent single malts - on the bottle's shoulder, is sure to attract confident, liberal minded people with discerning taste and ensures it's not one to hide away in the drinks cabinet!

Oaky, smoky, and smooth.Bulleit Bourbon is russet in colour with a rich, oaky aroma. The dry, clean flavour is mellow and smooth, not hot in the throat. This 90 proof (40% ABV) Kentucky bourbon delivers a wonderfully complex taste with hints of vanilla and honey and a long smoky finish. All of these elements combine to form a unique, hand-crafted bourbon reminiscent of America's frontier heritage. One taste will release the frontier explorer in you.The award winning bottle design reflects elements of the Frontier Age, with a unique flask design and raised glass lettering.Bulleit Bourbon is distilled and aged in small batches and stored in a single-story warehouse which reduces inconsistencies in the maturation process. Bulleit Bourbon is aged in American White Oak barrels that are flame charred, giving the bourbon some of its colour and flavour. It is aged not a drop less than 6 years, creating maturity and smoothness. The final, 90 proof product is formulated by mingling, not blending, two and sometimes three of the distillates to ensure consistency in the nose and taste. Bulleit Bourbon uses only the highest quality ingredients and follows the 175-year-old recipe of Augustus. Bulleit Bourbon is produced with a high rye content and proprietary grains and yeasts. Rare among bourbon producers, Bulleit Bourbon has its own Grain Division, which acquires distiller's grade grains grown to Bulleit's specification. The high level of rye content creates the dry, clean flavour. In true bourbon fashion, only limestone-filtered water is used. In March, 2004 Bulleit Bourbon won the Gold Medal for being in the top of its class at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition - beating out more expensive and well known premium bourbons such as Knob Creek, Maker's Mark and Jim Beam Black. The competition included over 450 spirits rated by 16 renowned judges from the media, hotel, restaurant and spirits industries. This drink

The Island of Islay is renowned all over the world for its intensely powerful and charismatic Scotch whiskies. Black Bottle is totally unique in being created from whiskies from all seven of the famous distilleries on Islay. Its spiritual home is the Bunnahabhain distillery in the north-east of the Island.Black Bottle was created in 1879 by Gordon Graham and Co. based in Aberdeen. The three Graham brothers - (Charles Innes, Gordon and David) original business was tea but they switched their attention to whisky blending. Soon the popularity of the whisky spread through the East Coast fishermen who favoured it on long sea journeys.Black Bottle's name came from its original bottle design based on black German glass and echoing the traditional pot whisky still. In 1914, following the outbreak of war, production was switched to green glass as it is to be found today. Black Bottle has long been regarded as one of the smoothest and most balanced of the Scotch Whiskies. The skilful craft of blending only the finest malt and grain whiskies delivers a wonderfully balanced and whisky experience. Fresh and fruity on the nose it combines full, honeyed and delightfully smoky flavours that set it apart. The tasting experience is rounded off with a long and warming finish.

Firm and rich luscious creamy, round aromas lead to a spicy richness of taste, elegant and distinguished.
