The Discovery Store's top remote control helicopters... RC Air Discovery (Self-named, of course.) This intelligent coaxial model has a smart alloy structure which is very strong and crush resistant because, yes, if flown into a fixed object, like any other aircraft, damage is possible! This beautifully balanced remote control machine has a built in gyroscope, 360 degree accurate direction detection and a digital proportional radio control system. Just what is the built-in gyroscope in a remote control helicopter, I hear you ask? Well, the RC helicopter gyro is a small device that detects any yaw (left or right swinging) movement of the RC helicopter and automatically sends a command to the tail rotor servo to correct and limit the yaw movement of the remote control helicopter. Most remote control helicopters use a non-mechanical piezo crystal yaw detector. The gyro simply plugs into the rudder/tail rotor channel of the RC helicopter receiver and the tail rotor servo then plugs into the gyro. In short, the gyro is in full control of the RC helicopter tail rotor and interprets tail rotor commands from the receiver. So only when the pilot sends a tail rotor command to the remote control helicopter, the gyro will allow the RC helicopter to turn. Well all this remote control helicopter with gyro jargon is very tech and sophisticated, but that just makes it even easier, safer and more fun to fly this particular remote control heli. The intelligent digital scale controlling system makes RC Discovery easy to manoeuvre and the use of alloy and colliding-resistant materials in the structure make it strong and durable. This palm size 4 channel helicopter is amazing! This tiny heli is able to move in 6 directions, including spinning on its own axis, just like the real thing! The light but strong metal body frame protects the helicopter from those inevitable crashes, and though not indestructible it won't break easily. The blades are made of a flexible plastic and so are much more able to survive any collisions. Though it has 4 channels and is highly manoeuvrable, it's co-axial twin rotor design makes it very easy to fly and even a complete novice should be able to control it perfectly after about half an hour. Another great feature is that you can choose from one of three frequencies so you and your friends can fly up to three of these at the same time! It charges via the transmitter or alternatively by plugging it into the USB slot on your Mac or PC, which should mean you can charge it up pretty much anywhere. This is a brilliant model and a fantastic introduction to rc helicopters. Suitable from the age of about 8 upwards to 108! It comes in either the blue or red variety depending on stock.
