A quality Champagne, loved the world over and is a showcase for the ideas and character of those making it.Three grape varieties come into making of Lanson Brut: Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier (black grapes) and Chardonnay (white grapes). An impressive range of 40 to 50 crus are blended together to form this Champagne and they are all vivified separately so the cellar master has an exceptional choice of aromas available to him, thus guaranteeing the consistent Lanson taste at all times.Lanson is one of the very few Champagne Houses not practising malolactic fermentation, a fact to be noted in Champagne. This Lanson tradition allows wines to develop to the full and to better their wealth of aromas. 3 Years ageing in over 4 miles of cellars, combined with the cellar master's expertise, are essential components of perfect maturing.Lanson Brut's brilliant and clear colour is remeniscent of the straw colour and hints of amber characteristic of the Pinot Noir grape. In the glass, it is lively with a fine string of bubbles. On the nose, the impression is one of vitality and scents of spring, mixed with a touch of 'toast' and honey. To the palate are bouquets of ripe fruit and citrus fruit to create a sensation of fullness, fruitiness and lightness. A pleasant racy wine with a long and lingering taste.'For the past two years this has been the best and most consistent non-vintage from any of the big Grandes Marques'.Tom Stevenson. The Wine Report 2009; Champagne Report 2009.Grape: 35% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir, 15% Pinot Meunier.

Lillet (pronounced lee-lay), is a French Aperitif made from a blend of wine, liqueurs, fruits and herbs. It originated in the French village of Podensac and has been made since the late 1800s. Lillet Blanc is made from white wine and is drier than Lillet Rouge, its red-wine counterpart. Both are classically served over ice with an orange twist.Lillet is a blend of rigorously selected wines and fruit liqueurs, aged in oak vats for around 12 months, during which it is given the same care as the Grands Crus (great wines) of Bordeaux.Lillet Blanc has a golden colour with candied orange, honey, pine resin, lime and fresh mint aromas.Full and rich on the palate with a lovely, long aftertaste. Always serve well chilled in a Bordeaux wine glass... zest with a slice of orange or lime. Perfect with snacks and desserts!Lillet blanc is the key ingredient in James Bond's Martini derivative, the Vesper, a drink created in deference to the beautiful double agent in Ian Fleming's Casino Royale and reffered to as Kina Lillet.

Following the harvest period, Bollinger's decisions on blen
... Read more
Following the harvest period, Bollinger's decisions on blending are not made before January. The blend for the Special Cuvée is an ideal version of the classic Champagne blend, using the different grapes of a given year from a variety of crus, with the addition of older, reserve wines. This blend necessarily incorporates subtle variations each year whilst remaining consistent to a style. It is, therefore, the hardest of all Bollinger to make. It contains the full expression of the Bollinger style and the House feels it should be judged on this - its benchmark wine. The denomination Special Cuvée was created in 1911. The idea came from William Folks, then partner of the illustrious London House of Mentzendorff. This great wine lover felt it was an insult to simply call this great wine "non vintage". The suggestion of naming it "Special Cuvée" was immediately approved by Monsieur Bollinger.A blend par excellence, the Special Cuvée is the purest expression of the Bollinger style; of its craftsmanship and its singular conception of what a champagne should be. It is, therefore, on this wine that the House of Bollinger shows how it is different from other Champagne Houses, asserts its qualitative policy and by which it asks to be judged.Madame Bollinger - "I drink it when I'm happy and when I'm sad. Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it if I'm not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise I never touch it - unless I'm thirsty."Cool, delicate briochey nose. Nice, rich fruit with honeyed undertones, reserve wine richness and texture. Complex, classy."Anthony Rose Decanter Magazine, 1 January 2008.

On the nose, the champagne is dominated by white flowers, green apple, brioche and a trace of minerality. On the palate there are notes of stone fruits, a certain nuttiness and a hint of honey supporting the freshness of the acidity. UK stock receives an additional 6 months post-disgorgement ageing so it is ready to drink upon release but cellaring for a few years will reveal greater depths. The aperitif champagne par excellence but one which has sufficient backbone to be drunk with fish and even spicy dishes.Brut Reserve is blended from 30 still base wines from different vineyards, different vintages and the three main grape varieties which dominate the champagne region: Pinot Noir contributes body, depth of character and life-extending tannins and comes from the villages of the Montagne de Reims - Verzy, Verzenay, Mailly, Ambonnay, Mardeuil and Louvois; Chardonnay provides the lightness, elegance and finesse and is drawn from Epernay itself and the villages of the Cote des Blancs - Cuis, Oiry, Oger, Vertus, Moussy and Chouilly; Pinot Meunier supplies youthful freshness, vigour and plump character with the grapes coming from the Vallee d'Epernay - Vincelles, Venteuil, Troissy, Damery, Vandieres, Brugny, Chavot, Monthelon and Pierry.Grape: 33% Pinot Noir, 34% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Meunier.

Attractive floral notes underline the pungent, aromatic raspberry fruit aromas. The palate is full of deliciously ripe cherry and raspberry fruit flavours with lovely nuances of honey and grapefruit. This innovative new Rosé style of Port has been made by a new technique which extracts fresh, fruity flavours and a subtle and delicate pink colour from limited contact with the skins of classic Port grape varieties, grown in top quality vineyards of the Douro Valley. The result is wonderfully fresh and vibrant, full of the rich fruit flavours of Port but with a unique and distinctive appeal. It has created the perfect opportunity for Port to be consumed in the warmer months of the year when Port may not otherwise be the drink of choice. This port is best served chilled and is an excellent aperitif accompanied by roasted almonds or olives. It is also a delicious accompaniment to lighter desserts and fruit.

A great youthful mouthful of Châteauneuf. The grapes for Les Galets Roulés ,Châteauneuf du Pape, Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre, are carefully selected and undergo a traditional long cuvaison at high temperature and extended maceration on the skins in order to extract plenty of colour, fruit and tannins. This results in a complex wine that has warm, red, spicy fruit and damson aromas. Dense, dark, cherry fruit on the palate; structure, richness and a touch of elegance on the finish.Les Galets Roulés derives its name from the large rounded pebbles (galets roulés) associated with the famous vineyards of the area. The stones cover the clay and chalk soils and naturally keep the vine yields low.

Dom Perignon 2003. On The Nose: This wine is full of life, with a fresh nose that dances through a spiral of aromas, blending hints of angelica, dried flowers, pineapple, coconut, cinnamon, cocoa and tobacco. In The Mouth: With a fullness in the mouth, its earthy, smoky, pearly complexity rises to the surface, underscored by the vibrant warmth of peppery spice. The sensation of intensity develops and melts into a deep, rounded heart, with a fruity, exotic maturity and a slight touch of aniseed. This sensation, almost unsettling, is even more pronounced in the finish, while the notes of spice, still present, remain discreet, with toasted, iodine flavors.

Powerful dark cherry and black fruit aromas. The floral and herbal notes that come through on the nose add lovely nuances to the bouquet. The palate shows great intense fruit flavours and fantastic depth and complexity. The wine is harmonious, well crafted, authoratative.Taylor's created the Late Bottled Vintage style of port and is not only acknowledged to be its finest producer, but remains the international brand leader.Blended from wines of a single year, LBV ages from four to six years in cask and is ready to drink when bottled. Its concentrated fruity flavour and firm, full-bodied style make Taylor's LBV the perfect port to accompany chocolate desserts, and blue cheeses such as Stilton or Roquefort.Taylor's Late Bottled Vintage is the port that Taylor's drink themselves and serve to their guests. Experienced port drinkers may well notice some similarities with Taylor's Vintage Ports, since it shares so many of their characteristics."Port is not just a winder drink and this remarkable, intense, statesman-like LBV is wonderful chilled and drunk either before or after dinner. Delicious, moreish and a bargain, this is one of the best value wines on the planet - I defy any dad not to adore this wine." Matthew Jukes, Daily Mail 14 June 2008.
