Canon G7 is a great general purpose camera

Pros: Shirt pocket portability due to automatic retractable zoom lens, and array of professional features

Cons: Prefer wider zoom than 35mm at low end, and slight sharpness drop at high zoom

Bottom Line: Great right out of the box for most users but I will try to extend the wide angle below 35mm with a wide angle converter

This Will Do Until a Great Camera Comes Along

Pros: Big 10-megapixel pictures; external ISO control; easy to adjust; sharp focus; great LCD screen

Cons: A little noisy; no optical zoom for video; proprietary battery

Bottom Line: I like the G7 but there is still room for improvement, particularly at this price point. Still, it's a fine camera with a lot of flexibility.
