UBI Soft brings the sport of fishing to the Game Boy Advance in American Bass Challenge. Angling addicts will appreciate the game's deep options, but so-so graphics and sound will put off more casual fans. The Practice and Quick Fish modes let you get started right away, but in the more in-depth Tournament Mode you start as a amateur fisher with your sights set on the pros. Each tournament competition has its own set of rules and if you place in the top three you will win new lures and advance to the next round. Fortunately, in the early stages of Tournament Mode a guide will teach you the difference between a sinker and a lunker. Pay attention to these lessons because once you go pro you will be on your own.As you explore one of the many lakes in your boat, your trusty fish-finder will let you know when fish are close. Prime spots such as reeds, pilings and dumps attract the most fish. Just like real fishing, factors like weather and time of day will also have an effect.
