Pros: Scanner software, speed, size, weight, no power supply.
Cons: Sometimes buttons do work when scanner and/or PC sleeps.
Bottom Line: An excellent general scanner for all kinds of home and prosumer scanning tasks. Many little benefits that aren't obvious before purchasing.

Pros: Easy to learn-as-you-go. Inexpensive
Cons: Operates at USB 1 speed - even so, it is not a slow scanner anyway.

Pros: the hardware is of good quality. produces high-quality images.
Cons: transfers over USB 1.1! absolutely absurd for 2006.
Bottom Line: Stay away from this model and find something modern with USB 2.0. Scanning is basic stuff, folks. Why Canon screwed this up, I don't know.

Pros: Slim design, comes with good picture software (probably because you'll need them...)
Cons: Really bad quality, grainy and off-colour scans, takes a long time to scan, screeeeeech,...
Bottom Line: Steer clear of this one. Bad quality, grainy, off-colour scans that take a long time to scan - along with an interesting errr-errrrrr-screeech sound when scanning! It's already been returned.
