Author's Review
I must admit that I had picked up this game because I was bored and I saw it in the bargain bin at a local store. I wanted a game that I could pick up at any time, I didn't want to have to worry about some long drawn out story line like the RPG's I usually buy.

When I first plugged the game in and watched the opening movie I wasn't really impressed although it was pretty cool. It wasn't until I got further into the game that the FMV/cutscenes were really good and sometimes funny. Some of the cutscenes are really well done computer animation and although not as good as games like the Final Fantasy series on PS2 they were still well done and fluid. What really surprised me the most was the anime cutscenes. There are certain things you must do to unlock these anime scenes which I won't reveal here.

Anyways onto the game. If you're looking for a easy game to get into with no real story line this is it. This game is nothing but a beatum to a pulp type of game. You choose a character and then try to take over the "world". First you pick an area to invade, then with a few not so helpful soldiers you run through a level beating on hundreds (and I do mean HUNDREDS) of enemy soldiers until you get to the "General" of the army which are made up of whatever characters leftover from when you chose the character to play.

Some levels have "half generals" or part bosses which can be just as hard as the boss fight themselves.

During the course of beating guys up they'll drop yellow gems of various sizes. You need to collect these gems to get experience points, anywhere from 10 - 100 a gem. Sometimes guys or chests will drop green life gems, purple fury gems, or golden treasure boxes. Like an RPG, experience will gain you levels which will up your attack damage, life, etc. Also for so many levels you get power attacks.

The Golden treasure boxes will be opened at the end of the level once you defeat the boss. You can get many different items from weapons to items that increase damage, health etc.

Your fury drive is a purple bar that you fill up when using special attacks (not the power attacks) and when you attack stunned enemies. Once the bar is full you can unleash a devestating super attack that can kill lots of enemies and which also makes you invincible for a very short period of time.

If you want a game to pick up at any time when you're bored, kick the snot out of a few hundred japanese soldiers, this is a game that can do that.
