Author's Review
I have been planning to buy a notebook for more than one year, and I surveyed many models, including Acer Travelmate 602/603ter, COMPAQ Presario 800 (only sold in Asia), ASUS M8300 series. M700 came to my mind
in the final period, with the increse of my budget as well as a special promotion in M700. I finally chose it.
It's manufactured by one of Taiwan's leading NB company, Invantec, also with the quality control of COMPAQ. It's really a great machine. It is
light-weighted, slim and somewhat solid. Its functions, especially the
Multibay, are just great. The LCD which is made by Samsung is terrific, since Samsung has been the leading company in LCD/CRT industry. The NIC/Modem Combo works well and is integrated into the machine. My machine
comes with a TOSHIBA 12G HDD, and its specification is better than IBM DARA or Hitachi ones. It equips with 1024KB buffer so it's faster, and quite. My 8x DVD-ROM is made in Japan which is better than the former Korea-made 4x one. Not picky to CD-R or CD-RW at all. The battery also lasts long. What bad is the keyboard. It's nice to use but a little bit noisy, maybe because it is fully water-resistant.
Oh.. my model is M700 PIII-700 with 12G / 8x DVD and NIC/Modem Combo, with WIN95/98 Dual installed.
It's a great machine. If you got enough money, buy it...if not, choose Acer 602/603ter....also terrific.
