Since this is the 1st 624mhz Pocket PC, there is nothing to compare benchmark scores with at this time, But compared it to the older machines, it isSmoking! What is the perfect PocketPC? That is a question that will never be answered, there are too many opposing views and usage patterns for that to ever be accomplished. Today, Dell released the closest to my perfect PocketPC to date. It sports the fastest processor available at this time, SDIO SD Slot, a small and light form factor, Bluetooth and WiFi, and Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. Other than a few features that some find a must, it has everything I want in a PocketPC. The only real complaint offhand is the look. I mentioned in my X3i review last year that I really wish that Dell would have duplicated the modern, unique look of the X5 when they design the X3. Just in case you have not figured it out yet, the Dell Axim X30 is the same as the X3i with some major enhancements. Minimize

Dell Axim30 -- My first PDA, and I'm loving it

Author's Rating: 4/5 stars

Pros: LOTS. Wi-FI, Pocket Word & Excel, Fast processor, decent memory. Best value for the $$$.

Cons: Not sure yet, as I'm new to PDA's, but it seems quite flawless so far.

The Bottom Line:
This is a great purchase for the price range, as you get Wi-Fi, Pocket Word & Excel, fast processor, and decent memory. And it works quite well.

Author's Review
After looking at almost every PDA available for $200-$300, I went for what Dell offered, the middle of the 3 Axim X30's. This is my very first PDA, so I have alot to learn, and for the most part I'm learning it quickly. The big selling points are the Wi-Fi, Pocket Word & Excel, good processor & decent memory. The Wi-Fi is taking a little while to figure out, so hopefully in the future the process to connect will be simplified. But this may be related to Wi-Fi in general, not just Dell. Once connected it has been very fun, and you can switch to landscape mode to improve browsing. The Axim switches between programs quite effortlessly, even since I've started to load it up with medical software (for nursing school). I called Dell's customer service to help explain something and they were direct and very helpful -- another bonus. I wasn't worried about all kinds of bells & whistles, so for the price this is working out to be great deal. I did not buy this for lots of contact/scheduling/IM type stuff, and supposedly other PDA's at the same price have more packaged software. Regardless, I feel as if I have a mini-desktop at my hands, with lots of expansion capabilities. I definitely recommend this product.
