I purchased the Kodak EasyShare C340 when I found out I was pregnant. I was one who always loved my Canon Rebel 35mm and liked using film and having negatives, ect... However, I knew we would be taking hundreds of pictures of the new baby, so the digital camera sounded like a good investment. I am so glad we bought it. The EasyShare C340 is 5 MP so the quality of the pictures are really good. Now, they are not as good as the pictures taken with my Rebel, but that is to be expected. This Kodak is perfect for those everyday moments that you want to capture, perfect for families with little kids. You know, you have to take 50 shots just to get a few good "keepers" cause they move around so fast!!! I like all the different settings available. I use the "party" mode alot, it is for indoor pictures. Two complaints: #1 - the flash is harsh. pictures look washed out when I use the flash, so I try to use natural light as much as possible. #2 - the light meter on this camera does not seem to be well suited for outdoor photography. Many of the photos I have taken outside look overexposed, the light areas look glaringly white, colors are not accurate. It seems that the light meter is having difficulty when there are areas of shadow and light in your picture. That being said, when the lighting conditions are good, this camera takes excellent photos!! The EasyShare C340 also has a video mode that allows you to take short video clips and I use this feature often. The quality of video is not terrific, but it is just fine for little 1 or 2 minute clips I use to email to my dad or post on our baby website. Overall, I have been pleased with this camera. We purchased the CRV3 batteries for it, they last alot longer than the AA batteries. I take lots of pictures of my baby and one battery lasts me about a month. We recently purchased a rechargable CRV3 and that seems to be the most economical option for your power. You can get one with a charger for less than 20 bucks on eBay.
