|
24-Aug-2007
Pros: Inexpensive, great photos when lighting is good, simple
Cons: Poor in low light, deep shadows, back lighting, etc.
The Bottom Line: Completely functional and satisfactory in good lighting conditions. Less so in back lighting, deeps shadows, or fast motion.

Full Review
This camera is totally functional and satisfactory for situations where:
- You have satisfactory lighting
- You are not too far away from your subject
- Your subject is not moving fast
Which means, if you are at a barbecue in the backyard or at your kid's daytime graduation, it is fine. But if you are in a dimly lit room, or there is back lighting, or a lot of shadows you will find it very frustrating.
There are many different mode for special light environments, but they are a bit unwieldy to use and by the time you have the mode set up and ready to go, your subject has probably wandered off.
Also, the red-eye removal does not work well. I have given up taking flash photos of subjects straight on. I only take them if there is enough light so that the flash does not kick in.
Connecting to the computer through the USB port was quick and easy. Windows XP seemed to recognize the camera right away.
I was also able to get a 1GB memory card at an incredible price (I think like $20 which is unheard of).
The bottom line is that if you need a simple camera for standard stuff it will be completely satisfactory, especially if you can get it at a good price.
