I got my HP omnibook 4100 from someone for $1700. I have been extremely pleased with it. The 14.1 screen is even larger than what some standard desktops offer. Yes it makes the notebook big and heavy, but I am a student and this notebook is not bigger and does not weight more than my accounting text book. Besides, I think there are two different types of mobilities. One is the consulting type mobility, always on the run, doing stuff at during flights. HP Omnibook 4100 may not be ideal for this type. The other type is people who move around couple of times during the year. I am a student and at the end of the year, I have to store everything. Now instead of worrying about packing my cumbersome desktop, I take my notebook with me. Most of the time, I use my laptop on my desk, but it takes less space than a desktop and can deliver everything a desktop can. I agree the 32MB ram is on the low side, but if you run on Win 95, it is fine. And you can always expand it. I think it is a great buy for a student.
