When I was looking for laptop in ebay, I stumble upon this HP Omnibook 4150 auction. The spec didnt look too great, PII 366, 14.1" TFT, 256 MB memory and 10 GB hard drive. But it's the price that was astounding: $1000! When I received it, I always think that notebook is slower then the desktop version due to the power savings settings. I was wrong! Now I use it regularly to do heavy duty programming with Visual Studio. And you wont believe the range of settings it got in the BIOS. If you're looking for medium class notebook, this is the one for you. It came with 3Com PCMCIA 10/100, PCMCIA modem with XJACK, 24x CD ROM, floppy drive, 1 battery that last about 3 hours, and of course the power adapter. It got docking station port, 1 PS/2 port, 1 parallel and serial port. Built in is the Sound Blaster 16 class sound card (i'm not quite sure about this one) and speaker. My disappointment came with that only 1 port PS/2: I must buy the PS/2 Y connector that cost me about 30 bucks if I want to use external keyboard and mouse at the same time. Ouch!! And also I notice that after the laptop went to sleep mode, the touchpad doesnt respond after wake-up sequence. I dont know if this is standard to the laptop, or just wrong settings? The standard screen resolution is 1024 x 768 in 24 bit mode. Trying to change to other settings will either make the display smaller, or if you set up to fill the whole screen, it will be distorted (ouch again). But hey, why bother seeing smaller resolution, you must see what you've paid for! Overall, I'm dang satisfied with this product, and with this price, no one should ever buy those expensive over rated laptops again!
