Great Screen. Weak Battery.

Author's Rating: 4/5 stars

Pros: Great Screen. Great keyboard. Best Desktop replacement on the market. (I've checked!)

Cons: Approximately 1.5 hours of battery life. Heavy. Needs ventilation to stay cool.

The Bottom Line:
Get it while you can. Fantastic Utility

Author's Review
Just purchased the zd7160us a few weeks ago. It's a great desktop replacement. However, don't plan to go mobile with it. It's just too heavy and you will need to bring the power supply with you.

I simply enjoy the 17 key number pad and wide screen. I particularly like being able to view 4 open windows while work is in progress.

The keyboard is great and so is the screen. (A perfect 10 out of 10 for both.) But, if you disconnect the power supply and go down a flight of stairs you can literally see a difference in the amount of battery power remaining in the system. (The battery receives a 3 out of 10.)

I tend to travel with everything I need to be productive in work and at school. Therefore, the added burden of bringing the power supply is of no consequence to me.

Also, being a prior Army Airborne Paratrooper the weight of the system doesn't bother me. (Simply put, my text books and working papers are more of a problem to carry.)

Other than the weight and battery life, the system has clearly eliminated the need for a desktop system. (I haven't touched my desktop at work or the one at home since I restored my files on my HP.)

Even my Dell Latitude notebook has become less efficient by comparison.

Overall, even with the lack of battery power, the system is clearly head and shoulders above anything out there in the way of desktop replacements.

I notice that I am clearly more productive in my academic life, my professional life, and even in my personal life thanks to the system.

I notice fellow students and business associates fumbling around with their systems while I have everything I need at my fingertips. Wireless?-Got it! 17 key number pad?-Got it! Ports?-Got Them! Adaptability?-Got it! Mobility?-Well?

Basically its got it all - except battery life.

If you like to take your system to a location and set up shop - this is the system for you.

If you want to pop it open, manipulate some data, and move on. Go with a IBM, DELL, or Sony. (If you can handle tiny keyboards and lessor flexibility.)

Take a look if you need to replace a desktop.
