If you want a scratch free screen on your PSP, I highly recommend buying a protective filter. I've never heard of Hori before, but I've heard people saying these protective filters were the best. I ended up finding it at EB Games for $4.99. A single protective filter comes in a package that also includes a cleaning cloth. The filter itself is reusable, and the packaging states that the bottom layer is made with a special silicon material that will allow several reapplications. I really see no reason why you'd have to reapply it, or why it shouldn't last as long as you own the PSP.

The installation can be tricky and a little time consuming if you want a perfect application. But that aside, these filters are the best. They are perfectly clear, have little to no image distortion (screen might be ever so *slightly* darker; which might be from the filter's glare reduction abilities), and offer great protection from scratches. After installing it, I don't even notice it's there and I have yet to get a scratch. I'm extremely pleased with it. I don't have any problems with the edges or corners rising, and I doubt I ever will. The adhesive on the filter is pretty mild, and leaves no residue when removed. It is, though, strong enough where the filter will never move or wrinkle. I can't really comment on the glare reduction because most of my use is indoors, where glare isn't really a problem to begin with.

When you install this filter, try to do it where dust is minimum. The hardest part is to make sure you don't trap tons of dust under it. Take your time, and make sure to wipe your screen down fairly well before installing. Make sure there is no dust or fingerprints on your screen. If you do get dust attached to the sticky side of the filter, use scotch tape to dab it off. If you end up aligning it wrong, you can always pull it off and start over. Remember, when you're rubbing the filter on as the last step, do not rub too hard as you might damage the PSP's LCD.

The only other thing I wish this filter did was resist fingerprints, but I don't know if any filter out there offers that. The whole PSP itself is a fingerprint magnet! Removing fingerprints, smudges, or dirt, is as simple as the PSP's screen before the filter. Just simply use a cloth and lightly rub them away. I prefer microfiber clothes to clean it. Again, the filter should never move, wrinkle, or lift up when wiping it off.

It's also worth noting that Hori produces what appears to be the same filter also for the DS. I cannot comment on the quality of it, since I don't own a DS, but I imagine it's the same great product as the PSP's filter is.

If you own a PSP, I highly recommend buying this filter. The key to having a scratch free screen, on any device, is to protect it before they occur. So buy one as soon as possible.
