Got Snorkels?

It is beach time, vacation time, the ocean depths are calling our inner surfers. In this day and age, where digital is a second language, most of us pack and plan carefully when going on vacation as to not leave behind the digital. However, when you are on the sand, rocks, rain and wanting to show off your underwater photography talent, then you want the Kodak Water & Sport Waterproof 33 mm Film Camera.

FILM? 35 MM? WHAT IS THAT?

For those of you born after 1990....Film is still around. It is the lightweight blueprint of photographs taken from cameras that have the film in the camera, and a professional developer takes the film, goes into a dark room and watches the pictures come forth after putting it in special water. It is like magic!! Of course, that is my sarcasm getting the better of me. But seriously, over-the-counter cameras still do exist, and people still cart them around on vacations, along with their digitals in tow. I know I still do, because I am clumsy and I lose things, drop things, forget and leave things behind all the time. This camera is small enough to fit in my purse or beach bag, and it won't get ruined ~ sun, shine or rain! This camera is wonderful if you are going to an amusement park where you are in a water park, or water rides. If you are going to Sea World and sitting in the Splash Zone, trust me, you want this camera. If you are going on a cruise, to the beach, if you are snorkeling, water diving, taking pics of the kids underwater, taking pics of fish, going to the Bahamas or anywhere that has waterfalls, lakes, beaches, oceans or lots of rain! This camera is a single use camera, which means that once you are done with it, you want to take it to a picture developer, one hour photo, like Walmart or CVS. You drop it off, and they will have your pics ready in an hour.

This camera is awesome. It is waterproof up to 50 feet underwater with a hard shell that protects the camera in case you drop it. Since it is rubber, and you are glue, it bounces off of the shark and sticks to you! There is normally about 24 - 27 exposures per camera. The price averages between 7.99 ~ 9.99 and you can usually find them on sale, at Target or Walmart, and will pay more at a gas station or tourist stop. Plan to have at least 4 or 5 per vacation or day at the beach so that you can have all that you want and you can feel free to go crazy! The rubber shelled, plastic coated camera comes is a plastic wrap that is encompassed inside a box when you purchase it. It has no flash, has Kodak MAX Versatality Plus 800 speed film, which is the best you can get for a single film cam, and has a single button to click. The lens is resistant to scratches and sunscreen, and will not smudge, even with water. It is comfortable and lightweight to swim with, and is rugged and tough. You can put it through anything, rollercoasters, wild water rides, the hot sun, go 50 feet underwater, and it stays in tact, as if it has been sitting in your beach bag the whole time!

CANDID CAMERA

The pictures turn out beautifully. With the exception in the ability to crop and zoom, the clarity is no different than the digitals that we have. The blues are crisp, the clouds look bright, and smiles are life-like! I will always buy this as a throw away camera, even if I am not going underwater! The Kodak Max film is that beautiful! It is not grainy like many of those one time use cams.

I am so impressed with this camera, that I urge you to at least try it the next time you are running on the beach, catching jellyfish or playing "Swiss Family Robinson" on your next vacation!
