I work in a photography lab at a drugstore and spotted that we sold the Kodak EasyShare C530. I examined the box and saw that it was $100. The 5.0 megapixel (megapixel = a unit of measurement in the quality of digital pictures) camera seemed to be a very good deal. Long story short, I bought the camera. After I took the camera home, I opened the package and was astonished at the size of the camera. It was an inch larger than the size of my palm and very light weight. I was very weary of the small camera, but decided that I would give it a chance. This is what I found:

Pros:

The camera was very small and lightweight, making it very easy to carry around. It had a very nice digital display on the back to view pictures and the options of the camera. I also noticed that the camera had very straight forward buttons on it, including a menu, review, and delete buttons. This may sound very insignificant, but to a novice digital camera user, it s extremely user friendly.

I also noticed the quality of the pictures came out nicely in well lit environments. This was very amazing, considering the physical size of the camera. The compatibility of the camera with my computer was also a plus. I hooked the camera up to my computer with the USB cable that is included in the box. The camera was recognized immediately and I was able to view and copy pictures to my computer.

Cons:
Some of the negative aspects of the camera pertained to the quality of some of the pictures I took. I noticed that pictures taken in very low light did not come out as well as I had hoped. The camera also had terrible quality in action pictures, as the pictures came out blurry.

The zoom feature on the camera was nearly useless. The pictures lost a great amount of quality if they were zoomed more that 2x. The pictures came out very grainy (meaning that they were distorted) and looked terrible.

I also noticed that the camera had a feature that took video clips. In good light, the video feature worked well, but in even dim light, the video clips came out poorly.

Conclusion:

The Kodak EasyShare C530 is a very good camera for its price. It is very user-friendly and is great for a person's first digital camera. It is very easy to carry around and generally takes very good pictures for such a cheap camera. I would recommend this camera to people who are looking to purchase a cheap first camera.
