Minolta's Vectis 300 BEAM is one great-looking compact camera. It combines Advanced Photo System technology, a powerful 3x zoom lens (approx. 30-87.5mm in the conventional 35mm format), and a host of high-performance features into a sleek and shimmering, stainless steel body. The matte-finish stainless steel provides a degree of refined elegance unmatched by conventional compact cameras. If you're looking for something bold and beautiful, this is the one for you. Minimize

Dynamite Camera In A Tiny Package

Author's Rating: 4/5 stars

Pros: Small size, flashy looks, great outdoor shots

Cons: Pop up flash

The Bottom Line:
Versatile, Small Size Camera that should be great for most situations

Author's Review
I violated the rule of using a brand new camera while on vacation, without testing it first.Happily, it didn't matter. All of the scenic photos taken in S. Frisco came out great...from hilltops overlooking the Bay, in the parks, overlooking the boats on the glaring waters, to the shady confines of Muir Woods...all came out picture perfect. The panoramic pictures were truly beautiful. I still haven't used the camera for regular indoor shots yet, so I really can't give an opinion on the flash. I bought this camera to fall in between my Canon Elph LT (great baby but no zoom) and my Pentax IQ Zoom 160 (full size, larger 35mm). The Vectis fits easily into a shirt pocket or purse, and has a 3X zoom that should be enough for most situations. My only complaint is the pop up flash, that gets in the way of your hand when it pops up, but this is easy to get used to. I've heard others say they have mechanical problems with this camera, but so far no problems here. Maybe I have a later, improved model.
