Why I bought it
Imagine, I was staying at my brother's house to cheer him up because he had not been feeling well. I figure, take the N64 and just ease his mind. I get to his house and unpack for the weekend. Then start to hook up the N64. Hmmmm.... I can't hook this up to your TV. It only has a cable wire input. So, we went to the mall and found this for about $20.
Is there any difference?
Nope. Everything worked fine. I don't know why Nintendo thought they needed to switch to this mode. A lot of TVs now only come with the cable input, but I don't know of any normal TV sold in the US for purpose of entertainment that doesn't have a cable input. Maybe, this was just a clever way of selling more accessories. Bottom line for me: I needed it to hook up my N64 to this TV, and it did the trick with no faults and no change in quality from the normal hook up I was used to.
