Desperately needing a new, decent CD player w/MP3, I paid a "full" $50 for this at Best Buy. The thing simply works great! Hasn't skipped once, good sound quality, plays all kinds of CD's great. I'm not sure the difference between this and the SL-SX420, but this one has the wired in remote, good pre-set EQ's. If you like to burn MP3 CD's be sure to number your songs a full 3 digits (001 vs. 01) or else it may play your songs randomly. Also no backlighting, FM tuner or even a 2 line text are on this. I just love this thing for the money, you can actually jog and it doesn't skip, period! The headphones included actually sounded better than my $20 stand-alone Sony unit! I haven't even mentioned the batteries last a good 60 hours even with bass boost, etc. on!
