This was the first portable CD player I had ever bought. I chose Panasonic because their electronics had been reliable and for some reason the fact that the majority of their products are made of Japan makes me feel a bit more secure about buying them. Anyway, about my experience, the player itself is GREAT. I've dropped it, drummed on it to the beat of some songs, put it in the car, nothing makes it skip for me. The battery life is good, too. I've gotten over 20 hours consistently, except for when I used cheap batteries.
Now the bad: The headphones are TERRIBLE. I don't quite understand why Panasonic included the dismal pair they did. I'm no audiophile, but even I noticed sound distortion and that putting bass on makes things even worse. However, this was remedied by a cheap pair of headphones from Radio Shack, so I guess the point's sort of null. A couple other minor quibbles: The buttons are all the same shape. It can be easy to confuse the buttons when you're fumbling with it in the dark. I also don't like the the rotary dial volume control. It's too easy to accidentally rub it against something and make it blast in your ears if you're trying to put it in a pocket. However, overall I like it.
