Panasonic introduces the 8-Megapixel, 12x optical zoom LUMIX DMC-FZ30 inheriting MEGA Optical Image Stabilizer as an up-and-comer to its creative super zoom FZ double-digit line. The new camera is a follow-on to the DMC-FZ20, released in 2004. A smart trick, named Extra Optical Zoom extends the zoom ratio by using the center part of the high resolution CCD, to achieve 15.3x for 5 Mp and 19.1x for 3 Mp images. Minimize

Ignore the noise about noise

Fits a niche between pocket a camera and a DSLR w. many lenses

Pros: Superb auto and manual zoom lens, body and feel, complex functionalities made easy, image stabilization

Cons: Really noisy images for 8x10 prints, software provided is useless for reducing these noises

Buy only if would 'never-ever' print more than 5x7 inches. Read More

Cons: Battery different than the other FZ series, limited movement of the LCD, useless software
