I bought this camera as a light, durable waterproof camera for use in the Montana backcountry and on float trips. The photos are great, and it has survived a number of rainstorms, river spray, etc. It takes great video (although the sound is a little limited), and the selection of presets is relevant and useful. It is priced $130 less that the waterproof model offered by Olympus - hard to imagine their model could be worth the extra!

If you are really going to be beating it up, may want to consider purchasing a small padded Pelican case - $15. looks like it would be easy to trash the glass or the LCD.
