***After Thoughts***: I've owned this reciver for a few months now and I have some things that I'd like to say about it before you get into my orignal review. This reciever is Awesome. Everything that is on it is done right and works great. The customizable options on this reciever are killer and the sound reproduction of every source is flawless. Sound modes such as 6-Speaker Stereo sound are favorites for music, and Neo:6 is awesome for tv and video games. I just wish that I had the 'elite' series, but then again.. i like having a car as well ;-) Just click on a store button below and buy this thing! don't even think about it, get it! You'll be blown away. Now back to my Original review:

Welcome back friends, time to test my newest toy- Pioneer's VSX D811S. This Reciever boasts an impressive 100 Watts per channel and Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro-Logic II, dts-Neo:6, and dts-es decoding. The Speakers can be configured from your choice of a 2.0, 2.1, 3.0, 3.1, 4.0, 4.1, 5.0, 5.1, 6.0, 6.1, 7.0 and 7.1 setup. The Discrete channel Pre-out for 5.1 decoding allows your system to be even more powerful than before as well as be expaned into seperate rooms, or even a device that can record discrete channels. The Receive already includes A/B switching and has Many options for Digital input routing. There are 2 Optical inputs on the back, one on the front (including S-video and standard RCA A/V jacks), 2 Coaxial inputs on the back, S-video for every source, and 2 Component Video inputs and one output. This reciever also includes one Optical-OUT for recording to CD-R, MiniDisc or DVD-R. On a Side-By-Side comparison with my previous receiver, the Sony STR-DE575 (
http://www.epinions.com/content_68081323652 ), I've found Significant differences in both setup and pe4rformance. Most noticably in the LFE or subwoofer. The Crossover is FULLY adjustable and can even be adjusted to make up for the size of the sattelites that you're using on your setup. Using a KLH 100Watt subwoofer, I am able to acheive Bass that rattles the very foundation of my home and sends shivers up my spine.. Signs, Atlantis(dts), Gladiator(dts-es), Jurassic Park(dts), The Haunting(dts-es), and a whole SLEW of other movies from my 100+ collection sent my neighbors from down the street running to Best Buy to get one of there own.. and then they wanted me to install it! Honestly, I like this reciever 100 times more than my old Sony (old? ha! it's less than a year old!!) and i'll probally get the new version of this Reciever next year. Here's to dts-es, and 6.1/7.1 sound!! Thank you Pioneer

A little known feature on these recievers is the ability to turn any signal into 6.1, this includes dts and Dolby Digital 5.1 mixes as well. All you have to do is set the option of 6.1 Mix to Fix from Auto and you'll be set into either ES.MTRX6.1 or Dolby Ex modes for your digital inputs from you dvd player or ps2, xbox or any other device that uses either dolby digital or dts. For analog you'll still have to use Neo:6 or 6 Channel stereo.
