Full Review

The 757MX replaced my Sony 555 changer and installed as a VERY simple swap. The RCA and "Unilink" jacks were in the same spot as my old unit, so there were no wire routing issues. I have a Sony head unit that is over 5 years old so it doesn't support the song title display in MP3 playback.

My changer has performed flawlessly for the 5 months I have had it. I've played scratched commercial CDs, audio CD-Rs, MP3 CD-Rs, and MP3 CD-RWs with no problems. The main reasons I bought this changer are the MP3 playback (of course) and the reliable playback of CD-Rs and RWs. My old changer was very picky about CD-Rs and forget about CD-RWs. But then again my previous changer was 5 years old and not really designed for today's technology. The 757MX doesn't seem to know the meaning of the work "skip." I don't think it has even once in the 5 months I've had it.

Changing CDs is pretty fast. There is a slight delay while it scans the disc to determine what type it is. The longest delay I've experienced is only about 20 seconds.
My changer is mounted vertically in my trunk. There is even junk in there that rolls around and into the changer, but still, no skips!

The sound quality is just what you'd expect from a CD player: clean and sharp. The MP3 playback works great, too. The only thing I haven't tried are variable bitrate MP3s, but I never encode them, so not much of an issue for me. The MP3s I have played sound very good and virtually indistinguishable from a standard audio CD. The changer allows me to search forward and backward while playing MP3s. I can also advance to any track on the disc, even when there are more than 99 tracks (files). My head unit display rolls over to "00" but the unit knows its on #100. When I leave the car and return, it still knows exactly where it left off. MP3 playback is unaffected by whether you have your MP3s in folders on the disc, it just progresses through them all in the order they're burnt. I specifically note this because this is one area where this changer is quite different from the Kenwood MP3 CD changer. My brother has the Kenwood and it may be his old stereo unit, but he can only advance (track skip) to the last song in a folder. Then it has to play and advance to the next track (first track in the next folder) on its own. This, as you can imagine, could get tedious if you have very many folders on an MP3 disc.

All in all this is a very good changer and I am completely satisfied with it. If I had to replace it, I would buy the exact same thing again. This is my fifth car CD changer in 11 years and should be the last for quite a while. The unit itself it pretty lightweight but sturdy. The case is metal and the top loading hatch is strong plastic. The mounting hardware (clips, screws, etc) is actually from my old unit, since as I said I merely swapped this one with it, but since it is essentially the same I will rate it as "very good." I had the original unit (and therefore the mounting brackets and wiring) installed at Best Buy and it is as solid as can be. The disc magazine seems a little fragile, so I always treat it lightly and never have a problem.
