Full Review
Shelling out the extra money for this particular model was justified. Having a FM,AM,TV, and weatherband along with a great CD player that doesn't skip is a treat for anyone on the move. The FM and AM reception is great, I can get stations my home stereo can't even find. The weatherband is useful, though sometimes difficult to get a reception, for anyone wanting to hear up-to-the-minute weather reports for your local area. The TV tuner is excellent as well, though it only goes up to channel 13.
Now on to the CD player. I have had this for quite some time now and have NEVER had it skip. I've shaken it violently for a few minutes and the sound plays smoothly. The display includes the track and time elapsed. The pause feature can get annoying since it continuously emits a 'BEEP' noise while it is on. The sound from CD playback is crisp and full.
Some of the nice features of this player include: AVLS, bass boost, many station presets, hold, and the ability to recharge batteries. AVLS is nice for those who wish to keep not let the volume to reach too high a level. The bass boost has two levels, though with the headphones provided it sounds distorted. This model has 30 FM presets, 10 AM presets, 4 WB presets, and 7 TV presets. You should not have any problems storing your favorite stations on this. The hold button is useful if you are going to leave this somewhere where the buttons can be pressed easily, like in one's pocket. If you have rechargeable batteries, you can put them in here, plug in the power adapter, and press the charge button to refill the batteries. The battery life is very good. I have yet to run out of my first pair.
The buttons can be pretty small, but not a big problem. The unit has two inputs, line out and headphone. By accident, the first time I used this unit, I put the jack in the line out. I could not get the bass boost or the volume to work. By looking at the player in more detail, I found that there was another input and everything was solved. These are minor gripes, nothing serious.
