I do not own this cd player, a friend of mine does but I have used it a few times. Enough to know what it's like. On to the review...

The thing that sticks out most about this CD player is that is skips the first beat of every song I listen to, and that gets very annoying. My JVC stereo already does that and it's annoying. I have to rewind it to hear the beginning of the song. I can't figure out the reason that either device would do this, but they do.

Once you can hear the music it sounds very good. With the digital mega bass or without it, the sound is very full and enjoyable. The mega bass has 2 levels or can be shut off completely. But every time you turn it on, the thing beeps and you miss the music for a second, another annoying feature of this discman.

The G-Protection works very well as I had a hard time trying to make it skip by intentionally shaking it, it eventually did skip but it took a long time. The G-Protection can be turned off to conserve battery life, but in order to do so you must open up the player, remove the cd, and flick a switch inside, which also gets annoying. There is also a resume button inside. Leaving it on makes your cd start at the exact spot it was when you turned it off. Turning it off makes the cd go back to track one when you turn it back on.

The battery life is very good. With 2 AA batteries you can get up to 36 hours of battery life. I'm assuming that in order to get them to last that long, you would have to leave the g-protection and mega bass off the whole time though. You have to buy your own batteries, as much as that sucks. The cd player does not come with any even though some other portable sony products come with rechargeable ones and chargers (like an old walkman of mine).

The digital volume control can either be good or bad. If you like it, it's good, if not it's bad. It takes longer for the volume to go from min to max (or the other way around) since it's digital. I don't like it, but maybe you will. I think that was done so if something bumps it the volume isn't changed.

The player comes with an Ac Adapter (good) and headphones (bad). The adapter works fine and has a good size cord. But the headphones are a different story. They are trash! Over the head style, so the fit isn't as good. The sound out of them is good but could be better. The cord could be longer and it's annoying how you have to put them over your head every time because the cord is connected to each earphone.

In the end there are many annoying things about this cd player. But if you like how it looks and want good sound give it a try. But I'm almost certain you're gonna' want to get new headphones.
