Full Review
This discman is quite simply the greatest Discman available.
I have dropped this thing a good half dozen times on concrete and it works like nothing happened. I have busted several Discmen after just one drop so I am highly impressed with this thing.
It plays MP3, WMA, regular cds, and something they call ATRAC3plus. It comes with a CD that lets you rip regular CDs and turn the files into compressed ATRAC files. Much the size of MP3s. As with MP3s you can fit a lot of songs on one CD that very by sound quality. I have not used ATRAC3plus because MP3 format is good enough for me, but it is a nice addition to the player anyhow.
Next, the sound quality is suburb. Even blasting all the way up it stays very clear. The different sound types it lets you choose (off, soft, active, heavy, and custom) are nice and make a nice difference. The custom setting is cool because it lets you choose your own settings.
There is nice navigation buttons that let you skip from folder to folder on an MP3 cd or lets you navigate songs without switching to each song. It lets you find the one you want and then play it instead of playing each one to skip through. This makes finding your song much much faster.
The display is clear. Has a two line screen that shows song names and time into or left in the song.
The battery life as with everything else is unbelievable. I use it for at least an hour a day, usually 2 hours and I have only had to change the batteries about once a month.
The only things I can think of that are not great about this player is that in MP3 mode it takes a little too long to fast forward through songs and there is a second or two gap when you push the button before it begins skipping. The other thing is that the play button can get pushed a little too easily. If you have it in a backpack or something like that it can get pushed and be playing with out you listening which obviously hurts the battery life. Neither of these are that big a deal but I am reaching for something that isn't positive about the discman.
Buy this player, it costs a few bucks more but believe me when I say you will not mind once you use it.
