I did a lot of homework before deciding which digital camera to purchase. I previously owned a Canon digital camera that after 4 years bit the dust. The Canon camera had done a good job with daytime pictures but a lousy job at night. The zoom on the Canon was excellent. So I ended up deciding on the Sony after reading some reviews and talking to the salesman at Best Buy. I took this camera home and tried it for a few weeks. I was very disappointed in its performance. Again, daytime pictures were quite good but pictures taken in low light, really any inside picture taken was very grainy looking. It did not necessarily look grainy on the camera's screen but when I downloaded the pictures to my computer you could see that the resolution was not good. I had some of the shots developed and they were not good. I tried every shooting option on the dial. I read the manual. I feel like I gave the camera every chance. I then took it back to Best Buy, talked to the Geek Squad and they basically said that the lesser expensive digital cameras simply do not perform to my expectations. So, even though I lost $30 on their 15% restocking fee, I elected to return the camera anyway. Not sure what I will do now. I suppose save my pennies until I can plop down $1000 for an SLR camera. Not sure if my problem with this camera was truly a problem or more a dissatisfaction with this technology. However, it seems to me that even at $200 I expect it to take pictures at least as good as the disposable cameras I used to use that cost $7.00!
