The XM-2200GTX 2-channel amplifier puts this reliability to good use with 200 watts RMS power per channel (or 500 watts RMS bridged), plenty of power for a subwoofer or two. The variable bass boost (0-10dB at 40 Hz) kicks up the lows when it's needed, and you can switch on the variable low-pass filter to keep the low frequencies tight and crisp. Minimize

Power and Durability.

Author's Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: All connections and adjustments are on one side of the amp. Current price (around $100)

Cons: Not too pretty, but I keep it in the trunk.

The Bottom Line:
Get well more than your moneys worth with this amp!

Ive had this thing since April 2004 and its been going good for me ever since. I'm running it in stereo mode with 2 ohms on each channel. Its got two big forties (fuses) in it so you know right there what kinda of power your dealing with. I would say that this thing really knocks, but that may be an understatement. Knocking is something the delivery guy does, this thing busts down door like a determined SWAT team. Even at high power and 2 ohm operation, this thing never gets hot either. This is the first amp that Ive owned that has yet to stop because it needed a break. I paid $188 for this thing at Best Buy two and half years ago and would happily do it again, but now that these things are old and can be had for half the price, I would never think twice about replacing the one I have with the exact same model.

Just so you know my frame of reference, I've owned all sorts of amps. I've had MTX, Hifonics, Lanzar, Kenwood, Pioneer, Power Acoustic, and Alpine. I've also been around some cheaper amps like American Pro, Legacy and Pyle. I would have to say that the power ratings seem right in line with the mid- to high- end names.

Also, I must say that this is not a pretty unit so if you're into looks and showing off your setup, then this might not be the best amp for you. I keep mines in the trunk and have actually only seen it maybe 6 or 7 times since I've had it.
