These metal S-series player is built for sports, and they're water resistant with a spiffy "collar knob" for music navigation. The G-Sensor inside enables a pedometer, and there's also a calorie counter and a stopwatch, too. Not only does it also have an FM tuner, but its one-line organic EL display is easy to see in the dark, and it takes just three minutes to charge up the batteries for three hours of playback, or total of 18 hours of battery life on a full charge. Great Sound for active people

Author's Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Great Sound, charges quickly, small, light, durable all aluminum body, included armband

Cons: SonicStage software frustrating so use voidMP3, file transfer speeds a bit slower than expected.

The Bottom Line:
With great sound and small size, included armband, is good for various activities.

Whether at the gym or running on the trails this Sony has GREAT sound compared to my old MP3 player. Tested and the sound quality is not from the headphones as I had anticipated. Tried various headphones comparing my old MP3 player and this Sony rocks.

The sound quality sold me along with the included armband package. Over the ear headphones stay in place yet allow some ambient outside noise in. Others cannot really hear me when I have them on. Have not yet experimented with the jogging specific features, timer, etc but will in the summer. Surprisingly find myself listening to this even when I am not at the gym the sound quality is that good.

Tried the SonicStage software but ended up using the voidMP3 freeware which allows MP3 file drag and drops to the device. In my software search the Realplayer free version allows for easy MP3 music file organization. Unfortunately, there is no Realplayer driver for this specific Sony player. Tried the closest Sony Realplayer driver but it did not work. From what I read older Sony models do work well directly with Realplayer supporting drag and drop, synchronization, playlists, etc. I just create my own Realplayer playlists then manually copy the files to a folder on the Sony, easy enough with only 2GB capacity.
