The Sony Cyber-shot digital camera is the one of best digital cameras available. The DSC-T1 packs features that you did not even know that you wanted. There are a few annoyances I’ve found, while using the camera. Overall, I probably would put this digital camera in this year’s “must own” category.

This camera has a ton of features that you wouldn’t expect from something that fits easily into your pocket. First, it has a 5.0 Mega pixel Effective Super HAD CCD for taking some really amazing pictures. It has a professional quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar Lens together with a smart zoom feature makes this camera very easy to use. It’s large 2.5 LCD display is great for playback. Amazingly, you can turn off the backlight to this display when it’s really bright outside and the resulting image is crystal clear. You must see it to believe. The most amazing feature is its 3X optical zoom. Okay, you might be thinking that it isn’t very interesting, but it is when you consider unlike other cameras, the lens doesn’t zoom out. It also has a 2X digital zoom.

The camera has many more features. It features Real Imaging Processor CPU that manages image control and power consumption, Continuous Auto Focus, Multi-Pattern Measuring, Scene Selection Mode, Slow Shutter Noise Reduction and something called PictBridge that allows you to connect the camera directly to a PictBridge compatible digital photo printer via a USB cable. These features and many more can be controlled via the intuitive camera interface which is another big plus for this camera.

There are some annoyances that will not prevent you from buying this camera, but you should be aware. First, the camera comes with a small Sony stick memory duo storage card. Honestly, what did Sony think you can do with this small card, store half a photo on it? While your dishing out a few dollars on this camera, buy yourself at least a 256MB card (because your going to want to take more than one high quality photo). The other disappoint is that it does not come with a carrying case. This camera is not cheap, so you’ll want to protect it by buying a good padded case. Finally, you can see that the total cost of the camera is increasing quite a bit. The two points are not essentials, but it will make your experience using this camera a little more enjoyable.
