Palm Tungsten T5 handheld lets you carry and do more. Because it has flash memory, your info is protected, even when you don't have time to recharge. The stunning 320x480 color display lets you see more in both landscape and portrait modes. Plus, you can transfer files and folders back and forth to your desktop--and use the Tungsten T5 handheld as a flash drive. And it still fits right in your pocket. Minimize

The Tungsten T5 is an acquired taste

Author's Rating: 3/5 stars

Pros: quite convenient, practical features, very user-friendly

Cons: no resale value

The Bottom Line:
Make a list of what you really need it for and why. Although feature packed alternatives are available, hey MIGHT not prove worth it in the long run

Author's Review
I've had my T5 for about a year and a half by now. I bought it for its convenient size, applications and features that were just perfect for a professor like me. I could create lesson plans, record grades, save files, view presentations, as well as keep personal picture files and music. However, I almost went berserk when they launched the LifeDrive 3 weeks after my purchase. For just another $100 I could have gotten the integrated WiFi access, 4GB memory and other accessories that came free as promotional items for the launch. I couldn't get the store I had brought it from (mobile1) to accept an exchange or an upgrade, so I had to stick with my T5 because it's resale value plummeted to 0 after the LifeDrive came out.

So I've had to live with my T5, but with little regret. It's a practical buy for the semi-geek whose needs are defined and fit its features. As a teacher, I have no REAL need to have my email on hand or be online surfing every single minute. At the end of the day, WiFi access is a convenient luxury for my lifestyle, and if I had a job which required me to have access to more than 3GB worth of files on a regular basis I would have the sense to invest in a laptop. I mean, a screen that big can only decently display documents, it's not like you can create and display photoshop files. And how many documents do you really need to bring with you? Media wise, real businessmen won't have time to listen to 5000 MP3s, and honestly, top executives have people to do their emailing and filing for them -- they don't need to have those on hand.

The T5 is a liesurely gadget -- not really for business as it was originally packaged. It's features will serve the writer who'll need to write down an inspiring idea when it strikes, the reader who wants to bring a mini library around with him, the student who'd rather type than write, the beach bum who'd like to play games while sunbathing.
